I'd give the infographic more credibility if the shifter shape was ergopower

Disc brakes will be a godsend to those in wet climates.
Or to those riding home late last night from a friend's and they're coming down a hill and the rechargeables in their headlight are starting to die so they don't really see the pot-hole that they hit a moment later which knocks a nice flat spot in the front rim and also makes a nice little bulge on the braking surface so that when they hit the brakes, it feels like the front end of the bike is getting jack-hammered every time that bulge passes through the calipers.

here we go. Discs MTB, for really wet, muddy conditions or if the probability of wacking a rim is high..discs are awesome BUT mechanical discs have been possible for a decade, on 'road-ish bikes, but no soap..now it's the 'thing'. Potholes been around for a while as have rain/wet climates.
I have built road frames with discs, but now it seems to to be the 'next great thing' for road bicycles.

Well the council did admit to being ill-informed. :D

My nephew is big on discs. I told him if you're in so deep good rim brakes won't stop you in time you're in to deep.

Disk brakes may be better for a small % of road riding conditions, but because they allow manufacturers to create then next "in" thing for the cool kids, they will be marketed as all-around great, which they clearly are not.

This is actually good news. By creating a "new and must have" product for the cool kids the used bike market will come alive with fine classic bikes from the 90's :hello:
Everyone go buy/build your new wonderbikes now!

Wasn't Dave Kirk on here a few weeks ago talking about incorporating disc brake tabs on his bike as an option? I believe he's testing them on his personal ride right now. Just sayin....
