Last night at the banquet in Madison, John burke, and Lance made it official. Check out the pics in the madison paper. Lance dressed in 1970's clothes.

Is this a secret code for something?

Who knows what 7000 shares amounts to, but it appears the Lance endorsement will continue indefinitely.

So I guess we'll never see a sloping top tube from Trek.

I suspect Trek will put the Lemond brand name on the chopping block soon. Especially given Greg and Lance's relationship. Does anyone else think so?

I'm with you. If you are in business, as Burke is, it is an easy choice. An employee is publicly bashing your money maker. Mr Trump has a phrase for this...... "You're Fired"

Yes, and what Argos said....

Lemond acquired a 100% stake in Lemond Fitness when he bought out Stairmaster, Inc. Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and is consolidating his trademarks.

IIRC, Trek is privately held. So Armstrong received 7,000 shares of stock that is not publicly traded. If Trek ever went public, his shares would either be exchanged for shares in the new public company, or sold to another investor or to the underwriting syndicate.

a quick perusal of a few financial market websites suggest JasonF is correct. Privately held.

Now you're being cruel! I was watching an old vhs tape of the '89 tour last night. Very exciting stuff.

While the Pilot does have a sloping top tube, it is not a performance racing bike. the 1000c and 1200c also have a sloping top tube but are "comfort bikes" prefered by many who ride in charity rides hence the "disease bike" moniker.

An IPO from a bike company...is something not one of us will ever live to see.

Why would you say that? Look how well Cannondale Corp. did for their shareholders: :)

That Cannondale share price plots their thought process as they alter their line up from their specialty (CAAD) to the asian-produced plastic Synapse. I told em not to cut out the main tubes of a perfectly good CAAD 8 frame and glue in carbon...but NO they wouldn't listen to me!

Yeah, as a bike nut who works on Wall Street, I realized Cannondale may be in for some trouble when they expanded their business to include motocross bikes. A lot of times when companies reach beyond their core competency everything suffers as resources are diverted to an endeavor that doesn't play to their strengths.

Yeah, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki kinda had the market sewn up, along with KTM, etc. They musta not done any market research...Idiots!
