i think the nitto "wayback" is one of the biggest setbacks. VO makes a pretty deep setback one too.

You should specify "greatest setback post in XXX diameter".

There are a number of offerings in the 35mm range. I have a scuffed up but perfectly functional FSA aluminum seatpost with 35mm if you're interested... SL-220 model I believe.

The Sakae MTE-100 had a monster amount of setback:

Although my initial thought was the same as yours, it should be safe enough depending on application and also as long as both post and frame are designed for it. Just thinking of a typical level-top-tube bike with about 10 centimeters or so of exposed post the top of the post is about 3 CM back. With a sloping frame and 20 CM of exposed post that number is more like 6 CM. That 3 CM of actual difference in total post setback (as it affects stresses at base) is as much or more than we are talking about here.

Also, differences in rider weight can add more stress at base of seat post than an extra couple of CM of offset. Obviously the rider should follow any weight limitations imposed by manufacturer, but it seems that a couple of extra CM of total seatpost setback (actual not virtual) can get lost in the total. If a heavy rider on a compact frame the idea of a lot of post setback would concern me a lot more.

All that said, a post with lots of setback sounds like a temporary solution with too much compromise for me. A frame with the proper seat tube angle would be my preference.

Profile Fast Forward, but turn it around so that now it's Fast Backward. Never thought I'd say that.

Yeah, the alloy FSA SL-220 has 32mm of setback. Don't think they're made anymore, though. But I think the FSA K-Force Light carbon post comes in a choice of setbacks, with one being offered in 32mm setback.

I've used them both.

For currently-made posts, I think that Nitto fits the bill. Listed as having 37 mm of setback.

And they don't make stuff that breaks....
