Lack of rain

Living in the San Joaquin Valley, everyone is complaining about the lack of rain. Well, there is a bright side: as of today, my mileage for the year is 996.
And all on my Roadeo. Moderate climbing ( 250' every 10 miles ). :beer:

Tell me about it. I'm at 3000 miles + 140,000 feet so far in 2012. I can only recall one or two rides where it actually sprinkled on me. I suspect a bit of Karma will visit us in April/May with rain.
Part of me feels guilty, part of me doesn't. Guess which I pay attention to? :banana:

I rode 2734 miles this past weekend.* Otherwise, I haven't left the couch this year.

* It's not as impressive as it sounds. It was a long weekend.

Congrats. 'Tis truly been a sweet start to the year- for riding around CA, anyway.

1800+ of those got me 8th in the last Strava Challenge, I upped my mileage during January when I was in between semesters... but really nice weather + nice places to ride + nice bikes + flexible work schedule = lots of riding. I'm not the type to sit around and read-shop-post-blog-eBay-whatever. Riding > Internets (except during downtime). I'll ride rain or shine, always outdoors and mostly in the hills cuz I love the views, fresh air, getting away from traffic, seeing farms & livestock, and 50mph descents! :) ps- my parts are just being "warmed up" for the next rider! ;)

For a while, my avg was higher than 60, but since school started, I've been slacking, haha. It's all on the Strava if you doubt, but you shouldn't cuz you know who I am & my legacy! ;)

Rode base miles in northwest rain from november till february. In Socal now and not complaining.

. . . or it's going to be a drought summer. But same here. No measurable snow, but we are sure to pay for it with a VERY dry summer.

Our non-winter here in New England has been great for riding, just awful for skiing. Not only has it been just plain warm, but it has also been dry. My wife and I have been doing a lot of walks/hikes during the weekends and the trails are unbelievably dry for this time of year, actually powdery dirt. Really good for mt biking, very little mud. I'm guessing there is a high forest fire danger right now, and the spring could be very dangerous if we don't start getting some moisture.

We had a similar winter here either in 79-80 or 80-81 - we skiers remember this stuff. ;-) Absolutely terrible snow winter and dry overall. I worked with a guy who was a volunteer fire fighter for his town and remember him remarking on the high fire danger.
