View Full Version : Favorite bars, 26 clamp?

Anyone else here still riding on bars that fit in a 26 mm clamp?
I've still got a couple of nice Nitto stems to use so I don't want to make the leap up to the larger clamp yet if I don't have to.
I would like something with grooves, to be run with Campy shifters.
I have a set of Deda 215 on another bicycle with Shimano and I like them.
Also like Nitto 177 but they don't have grooves.
What else should I try?

I have Salsa Short & Shallow 26.0 that I'm running w/Campy Ergo. Pretty sure they're grooved. I like the anatomic drops but that's just me.

I use Ritchey Aluminum bars on my bikes....with 26 MM clamp size. As light as CF and way cheaper. Has one groove.

I like Cinelli Solida bars. They're anatomic. Also can't seem to find them anymore. I've considered checking out the Dimension Double Groove bars-- tho they are 6061 aluminum and not the preferred 7075.

Easton EA50, on the low man on the totem pole beater. Nitto 176 Dreams (picked up here) on the CX. Awesome bend, no grooves. 26.0 stems are getting a bit hard to find.

I have a set of Deda 215

Me too. And I'm pretty happy with 'em, so no need to look further.

That's what I have on my Serotta as well.

I also like the Nitto Neat 185. About same reach and drop, heavier but I don't really care.

Great bars. I have 2 of them, now retired, hanging in my basement. The oldest one developed a creak at the center sleeve, so I replaced it. I eventually put a Serotta Ti stem on my CSi. The clamp is juuuuuuuust a bit too tight on the sleeve. I had to resort to spreading the clamp a bit with a nickel in the slot, just to get it installed. I switched to the Solida and it fit perfectly.

I like the Soma Hwy One bars. They still come in silver, not anatomic, but still a compact bend and flattish ramps. If you decide on these I should tell you that Soma is more of a distributor than retailer and though they will sell retail they are slow. I called a Soma retailer in Chicago, Smartbikes.com, and Eric took a lot of time to help me find a set of bars, excellant service and cheaper than Soma direct! Good luck

Look on Alex's cycle (in Japan). They seem to have the widest selection of Nitto. Many 26.

Cinelli standard curved, love 'em.

I like my 26 mm EC90 that are on my legend OK but they're 'ergo' (what I scored on EBAY for the right price at the time) and sometime I plan to replace 'em with some bar with standard curve.

Origin 8 has a really nice compact bend 26.0 bar. Claimed 250gms too. I'm likely to mate one up with my EXtralight UL3 on my back up bike. Should be a nice light and stiff combo.

Another 26.0 option is the Bontrager SSR VR c, with a 125 drop and 85 reach instead of the typical 75 reach of other compact bars, it doesn't feel as cramped. The shallow drop is the same as that of randonneur bars, just right in my book. 285 gr for 42cm is about 100gr less than a Nitto.

3TTT ergo due or competizione with Gimondi bend.

Modolo x-Boost/X-tra, sort of a scaled up compact bar. It has the shallow radius curve in the drop typical of compact/shallow bars but with a reach of 105 and drop of 145.

Didn't know these existed. They look great - just wish they came in 46cm.

Are they single or double grooved?

deda 215 anatomic bars have cable grooves and you can usually find 26.0 ones pretty easily.

Nice looking bars.
Do they have a groove on the inside face? I can't tell from the picture.

No grooves, but the transition to the hood is flattened out a bit - very comfy. They come in both black and silver and in 26 and 31.8 versions. Alex's Cycle in japan has them. Unfortunately expensive, but can you really put a price on baller status?

Bummer.

I really want a flat ramp, non anatomic 26.0 46cm wide double grooved bar. It appears that I am chasing unicorns with those specs.

I like the Cinelle B-Grooves, which have a similar curve, but I think the B-Grooves are a bit heavier. Doesn't matter to me. I haven't been able to find a similar bar with a relatively short reach and the same style of drops - are these anatomic drops? I don't like how the Soma Highway Ones curve.
