Thinking seriously about pulling the trigger on a Hampsten frame. Will a SR 11 speed crank work with a 10 speed chain, with a dura ace FD and sram red RD.

Thanks

yes. definitely.

edit: assuming you're running sram shifters. no problem with the crankset on 10-sp gear though - did so myself for a few years, no problemo.

Yep Sram red shifters. Thanks for the info. I've been so zeroed in on mountain stuff that I've been a tad behind on the road stuff. I think Steve's bike deign is secon to none. Says a lot since I won't be getting a PF30 BB

I rode my Look 585 today with a Record 11-speed crankset and all the rest 10-speed. No problems.

There's more interchangeability out there than most folks think.

Seems I might have lost out on the frame but thanks for the info. I'm in the market for a top quality 55-56cm road frame sooner the better.

Thanks.

Jack Brunck short a frame? Say it ain't so.

Buy a few different 55cm frames, and toss the discards my way. I prefer steel, not cool enuf for CF.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks but I tried on the team OS and it sold between last email at 2pm and notified at 5pm. No worries I think I'm back to the mtn side and will be adding Garth's 29er to my stable. It's all good and all works out for a reason.

Yep...........installed many 11s cranks onto to otherwise 10s systems, use a 10s chain.

Not sure about DA and Red, but I can tell you that I ran an SR crank with Campag 10 speed for a year and it worked great. In fact, I stashed the SR rings and replaced them with some NOS Record 10 speed rings that I had -- much less expensive, and I figured that I'd save the SR rings for if/when I decided to give 11 speed a try (which is now). I reckon that the 11 speed chain rings would have worked fine with the 10 speed chain, but I never tried them.
