Shoes? Pedals? Bars?

For me, it has to be the $581 I just spent on a Specialites TA BB and 50/36 crankset to replace my Campy Chorus BB/crankset. I could have just replaced the chainrings and right crank arm, but no. Yes, I feel silly.

My first wife?? :) I didn't feel silly.

Actually, she is a very nice woman. She was just at Penn State, where I went to graduate school. She bought me a T-shirt.

Every new car I've ever bought. I come away knowing that used would have been smarter and that I should have just fixed the old one and gotten at least a year more out of it.

A custom SEVEN CYCLES Ti stem. 120mm, 31.8, 85 degree, 1 1/8". $325.00. I felt silly until it arrived and I saw it. As sweet as they come. And highly functional. Jeff N.

Kooka cranks or any of the other CNC'd POS parts that came out in the late 80's and early 90's-

I had the cool ti dyed purple ones (on my blue anodized Zaskar) after one ride all of the color had rubbed off the cranks- LBS sent them back in- got the cranks back a month later with the wear marks colored over with purple marker- rubbed off with your finger- the company asked what did I expect?

Wonder why they went out of business

:bike:You wanna talk about P's O S? Try ZIPP'S carbon crankset of several years back. It literally disintegrated under my feet! A top drawer piece of garbage of unprecedented scope. They took it off the market, of course, but it really left a lasting impression on me. I sneer at ANYTHING that says ZIPP on it now. I know that their wheels are highly respected by many, but still......... Jeff N.

my rocket 7 shoes. tried 'em multiple times; they were the most uncomfortable shoes I ever got. And I got dutied on them TWICE! (Once for the plaster kit, the other time for the shoes themselves)

How about my current wheelset. I could have bought the regular Ksyrium SSL SCs, but noooooooo, I wanted the limited edition version with the yellow spoke. Yeah, I feel a little silly, especially when I have to explain about the spoke.

A custom fitting (well - not that expensive)

Best thing I ever did regarding cycling save buying my first lugged steel steed.

The second best was getting a tune up fitting by Smiley :)

if you live close he is worth the visit!

$160.00 for Giles Berthoud fenders for my Rambouillet. They sure do look sweet. Local wrenches drool over them whenever I roll in for a shop visit.

$1000 approx for an MRI on my knee (I was in between jobs and had crappy insurance), plus at least another $1000 on pt bills etc. A big wig Dr in the Bay Area who works with lots of pro athletes, baseballers, footballers etc was trying to find out what was wrong with my patella tendon. MRI showed nothing but he scheduled an operation anyway.

As luck would have it I was back in Australia for a friend's wedding and she knew the physio for the Olympic Cycling Team. I went to her for a second opinion before going under the knife. She looked at me ride my bike on a trainer and knew in 30 seconds what was wrong.

My tight a** (glutes/hips) was pulling my pedal stroke out of line thus inflaming the patella tendon. A month's stretching and it was fine.

Yep, I'm officially a tight a**.
