What do you guys think of the brown tape/saddle combo? I thought I would really like it, but now I can't decide. I may switch it over to white......

i think it looks great personally.

Can't tell exactly, but if the tape isn't the same color as the saddle, and if it were mine I'd: A) buy the correct color bar tape (HandleBra comes to mind) or B) change the tape to black or a light beige. To my eye, white wouldn't be a good color on your bike, too harsh.

If that's a leather saddle it'll probably darken with use. I'm not sure about Fine Cigar Handlebra, but Dark Brown darkens to black where you touch it the most, as does Fujitoshi. It all seems to work out in the end, and if it were me I wouldn't worry about a perfect color match.

And I certainly wouldn't consider white bar wrap.

I happen to love the leather tape/saddle combo.

I use either real leather (brooks, selle, etc.) or for a less expensive alternative, Charge Bikes U-Bend synthetic as on the C-dale below, about $15.

Black saddle and black tape - end of story.

I think the brown tape, brown saddle is really sharp. Add a brown King HS, brown King BB, and a set of brown King R45 hubs and you will have a show bike.

I rarely like brown.

I think that bike is begging for a black saddle and white (or black) tape.

I like brown in the right application...that being said THAT bike is calling for white and or black on the bars and saddle.

Looks classic to me, especially with the silver components...of course, I have a brown saddle and tape on my silver/gray '85 Spectrum, so we obviously think alike. :)

Looks good. Could only look better if the saddle matched, but then again if you are riding it, nobody would know. I'm a big fan of that color but only a few bikes can take it, yours is one of them.

Looks good. I just with the shades were closer - I hope your hands sweat a lot to get them to match.

Looks great, some gumwalls would pull the look together IMHO.

Brown/brown is class all the way, I would definitely keep the look!

I like brown too. This bike can handle black but not white.

Black and white can be so... well... black and white. And sometimes that choice reflects a lack of imagination rather than a tasteful choice. Having said that your frame's colour would happily sport black or white.

I like the look as is, and would not go with white. Maybe black, but not white. However, it is your bike...

I believe that I saw a photo of Andy Hamsten's Ti bike on which he had a brown Aliante....looked pretty good.

I for one am digging the look. I say rock it man! I went through the same process with my Tommasini and just recently settled on the same look. The bike will be finished with all polished Campy and Deda bits, Brooks Swallow honey saddle and Brooks honey bar tape. Modern classic. Yours looks bella!

Brown/brown is a fantastic combo on most any bike. And I agree about the skinwall tires enhancing that look.

And yes, Ray and I now have matching HandleBra and saddle in Auburn leather. The NAHBS show bikes for Naked are going to be fantastic. There will also be a retro Schwinn cruiser built by Yipsan Bicycles with an Auburn leather banana seat at NAHBS as well.

Fantastic. Leave it alone and enjoy.

I like the brown. I would also like black. I rarely like white saddle or tape. It looks like the bike escaped from a trauma ward and then stuff starts to get dirty or sometimes the dye on the saddle wears through to the black under layer.

I have a honey Brooks saddle and fine cigar HandleBra. As they age, both are becoming darker and matching up really well.
