saw that, very sad, regardless of the circumstances. 48 is very young.

I'm 49 years old and feel like I've just gotten started - very sad.

Too sad. Her music were great and I can't think of anyone who could compare to her at her prime.

So sad...I am 48

Never my favorite but I always championed that woman's incredible talent. Very few people are gifted with a voice and talent like that.

She was such a big part of the soundtrack of my high school and college years. What a talent. What a shame. Ride your bikes to get high, guys.

I was tempted to make a joke about sequels to The Bodyguard, but realized I would get an earful on this forum about being crass.

Then I realized the reason I wanted to make a joke was that Whitney Houston had talent, looks, money, connections and influence, but didn't value any of it, which likely led to her untimely demise. And that gross waste really bothers me. It's like purposely burning a library or sinking an oil tanker.

This serves as another reminder to live my life well with dignity and respect for what I have.

So very sad. What a pure voice, before she got caught up in the drugs, which not only ruined her voice, also changed her innocent beauty that was there when she first started.

It's not the age but the mileage. So sad.

Tragic. But, she lived longer than I thought she would due to her marriage to the drug addict skank. When she married him, I thought she must have very low self esteem.

Out of all the guys in the world...Bobby Brown  . Things went downhill from there. So Sad. RIP

How sad. I would like to believe she died of a natural cause. However, the circumstances (Beverly Hilton, right before a big pre-Grammy's party) lead one to suspect the worst. Either way, we lost a great talent today. How sad.

. . . but hardly a surprise. I feel pretty much the same as Kontact--she had so much, but there was something there that started her on the downhill. Wht was it?

Every time I saw some news report about her going into rehab--again--I'd hope this would be the time it would really work.

Yet another confirmation that wisdom doesn’t always complements talent. Whether singing or cycling or anything else.

Sad indeed. Such a waste.

Yet another confirmation that wisdom doesn’t always complements talent. Whether singing or cycling or anything else.

Sad indeed. Such a waste.

Her choices makes me think of a poem. Little ways that encourage good fortune by William Stafford

Wisdom is having things right in your life
and knowing why.
If you do not have things right in your life
you will be overwhelmed:
you may be heroic, but you will not be wise.
If you have things right in your life
but do not know why,
you are just lucky, and you will not move
in the little ways that encourage good fortune.

The saddest are those not right in their lives
who are acting to make things right for others:
they act only from the self--
and that self will never be right:
no luck, no help, no wisdom.

Sad indeed. I'm about her age (49), and like Dave Kirk feel like I'm just getting started. Still so much to do....

Loved her first album back in the day - what a great talent. Unfortunate that she seemed to make bad decisions that she couldn't get away from.

RIP

talent ,beauty and success don't always bring happiness
demons and pain can still haunt you
her pain has ended
