Is it possible to safely add a link to a Campagnolo 10s chain using a new pin?

yes, but you must use the campagnolo 10speed chain tool.

Not a single link -- Campy sells a set of links for splicing / lengthening -- both the campy pin and side-plates are single-use.

I have the Park 10s chain tool. The link is unused, off another chain, but not the 'marked link. I have a marked link that is used. The pin is new.

there should be no problem.

The above is not correct. You cannot push the pin out of a Campagnolo 10s chain and then reinstall a new pin. The only plates that can accept a pin are new plates, like those found on a new chain or the 'kit' that includes 2 outisde link, 2 pins.

Pushing a pin out and pushing a new pin in and you risk a broken chain, even if you DO use a Campagnolo tool..

Above same for 11s chain...Use a quick link!!! KMC, IRD, sram.,..lots of them

Using a master link solves nothing, if the chain is too short, by 1 inch, unless you want a chain with two master links in it. That's not recommended.

If you cut the chain too short, get a new one.

Sounds like I should just put a new chain on. I use KMC links, but this chain was too short for it's intended use. I need to add one link, even with the quick link.

I certainly don't want it to let go on a 12% out of saddle climb. Those hurt enough without the consequences of a broken chain.
