Michigan is full of dirt roads through the woods. Pretty much abandoned most of the time, but I sure would not want to go in the woods on opening day of hunting season, especially in the counties where rifles are allowed.

I love riding on backcountry dirt. I'll bet a solid 30% of my time on the bike is on dirt road.......a little taste of 'spring classics' type riding every day.

Nope - I don't own any studded tires. If it's that wintry I'm skiing and not riding. It's very rare for me to come across any ice even during winter rides
If there is any snow down I ride 33 m cross tires and if it's snow free, like the ride I just got in from, I ride my road bike and 28 mm road tires.
Those two horses were so sweet - when I stopped to take their photo they came running right over and had to get right up close. They have a beautiful place to graze and seem to really be in their element.

thanks.. some of the pics looked like it could have had some ice mixed in with the snow... I'm headed up to Kodiak, AK this summer for 3 yrs and have been advised to get some studded tires if I want to ride more than just the 3 months of summer... the island gets a lot of ice normally, this year is the anomaly... lots of snow...
