Serotta #TI54L00225. This is a Colorado ti, presumably 54cm seat tube. L refers to long top tube, but what does this mean in practical terms? The last 5 digits..... Could the 00 refer to year 2000, and 225 mean the 225th frame of that year? I'm unfamiliar with Serotta's frame geometry. Might this frame fit me? I'm 5'10" and 150 lbs, average bodily dimensions ( I.e. no unusual proportions). Thanks all.

I know-- Old threads abound. My "Colorado Legend Ti" has serial number TI60L00111... 5 digit production code? The 111th build?

It has a 1" fork; and DT bosses part way down the tube (not at the head tube) for shift levers or cable stops; and rear drop outs are simple... so it's not a super modern iteration.

Is the year of production embedded in that 5-digit 00111 production number? Why 5 digits instead of 3?

The "Colorado Legend Ti" moniker was early, and then also late production, right? So the name is not a definitive dating tool.

Puhleeze help me narrow the date.

From the thread linked: aa bb xxx - aa=model / bb=frame size / xxx= production number

Serotta didn't factor the year into their serial numbers...just the model, size and production number of that series....

What helps is to look at the old catalogs to see when your frame was in production, and then find others who bought theirs new, and compare the serial numbers to see if yours came before or after....

If it helps, my Legend has a serial number of C-TI-60-05031 and was built in 2004.....yours sounds like a pretty early model...probably mid 1990's

You might want to put up a picture of it....lots of folks here could probably figure out the year from the build details.

Likely just the 225th of that particular frameset.

Yes, the 225th frame of that model. Probably 1993, possibly 1994. If it has original decals the model name should give the year. 1993: Colorado Legend Ti. 1994: Colorado Ti.

The Ti frame was only made in the medium (L) top tube length those years (except custom). A 54 cm had a 55 cm top tube. The steel frames had standard (54 x 54), L (54 x 55) and X (54 x 56.5) options.

same for me. i think that puts it in the 94-96 year range. the other ti serotta i got as a frame is probably 98-99 still ha 1" headtube but the bottom bracket and downtube area are super thick. my goodness.
