I'm wondering if this (expensive) pump head is required for your frame pump to inflate your tires. What do you use this for? Is it only for a floor pump?

Just wondering if I need this when I buy a frame pump or a mini pump. Hoping this question is answered with a few replies. Thank you in advance.

It's for a floor pump.

It's still for a floor pump, in the event you needed another reply. :)

floor pump, good for low clearance inflation situations, like 12" kids wheels or disc wheels or small pneumatic wheels on the front of wheels chairs and such. locks on so it doesnt get spit off as often as the silca friction fit kind.

Actually, one relatively new developments in carry-along pumps is a short hose. So instead of having a hard connection to the valve stem you have a bit of a "service loop." This makes is way easier to use the pump and reduces the loads on the stem.

I'll second Bob here. I have an ancient plastic pump where a short fabric hose stores in the pump handle.

In that case, I've only recently been made aware of them.

Thank you again for the helpful replies. This is why the serotta forum is my favorite bike site.

EuroAsia is making their own, BTW. Not available yet but basically a US made Hirame. These have been out of the US for a while.

I have one on my home Silca and shop Silca..a better pump head is not made.
