Can anyone tell me the maximum tire size that will fit on a CDA (steel seatstays) and an F3 fork? Hoping 28mm's will fit. Thanks!

On my Ottrott with F3, 25c Michelin Pro Race 2 just barely fit. But those tires are notoriously fatter than, say, Continental 25c. So depends on the tire. My Continental 4000 25c looks to be about the same width on the Ottrott as Pro Race 23c.

Conti are notoriously undersized.

The F3 will safely handle a tire if about 25MM max. Larger will fit but clearance for debris on the tire will be slight. The rear will easily clear 25MM and but 28MM will be close.

Picked this up on ebay today:

The fork doesn't look like an F3. Looks like an AlphaQ with a Serotta sticker on it

That's correct—it's not a Serotta fork, but an Alpha-Q. That's a great buy in any case. I was tempted to bid on it, but wasn't around when the auction ended (lucky for you, since I would have bid higher than your winning bid ;)).

As far as clearance goes, I think the Alpha-Q is similar to the F3/S3. Depending on the tire, you might be able to get a 27mm, or at least a big 25mm, like the Michelin. Clearance in the back is more likely going to be a function of the chainstay length, and how close the tire gets to the front derailleur clamp.

My first Serotta!
I'm planning on using 25mm Michelin ProRace 3, so I think I'll be ok.
