Riding with studded tires, Eggbeaters and Paul's Neo-Retros along Lake Minnetonka on a beautiful winter's day!

PB- Next time can you place some ice fishing huts in the background on the lake?

The ice is so bad in Shoreview that most folks haven't dragged their houses out there yet.

I work right next to Lake Owasso and another car went through last week.

Weird, warm winter.

We rode on the Greenway today and I was surprised at the bike traffic.

Cool pics btw.

If that bike had some rear suspension it would be almost perfect. :)

What's that white stuff? I don't recognize it and it scares me.

Nice. I just talked with a friend who is packing for the Arrowhead 135. He's concerned about how warm your winter has been this year and doesn't know what to expect. Should he trade in his fat bike for skinny tires and studs?

Definitely check ahead.

I rode my Colnago Elegant today with Vittoria Corsas if that's any indication.

It was 40 degrees!

I read today that the number of snow days has shrunk by 5 per decade for several successive decades. I guess people will be using their boats year round in another decade.

Don't worry, it's sand, just like on your CA beaches. You should put your Speedos on and go check it out. Be sure to post some pics. ;)

Thanks!

Most are mine, however there are shots from NAHBS last year as well, so a little wishful thinking for good measure. :)

Yes, I do own the Kvale pictured.

That particular Chris Kvale frameset is currently for sale.

I do have two Kvales though, and the newer one is all Campy Chorus 10 speed.

The newer of the two is white with red panels, almost a Faema color scheme.

I don't know if I have the "anyone" access turned on or not. I have several bikes that I don't parade around as much, and those are the "not for sales."

I'll check.

BTW I'm always open for rides when I'm not dragging the kids to soccer!

Nice setup. Are these the brakes of choice for snowbikes?

Burrr!!

Our family in the Chiemsee/Voralpen gebiet reports similar weather to Minnesota this winter.

Rather odd for this to happen I would think.

We've had snow twice, it's been unpleasant and rainy most of the winter. Winter here is generally like it in in SW Michigan but less snow. This winter though it'll be in the 40's and rain on week the 20's the next. It has even made me sick and I NEVER get sick..The alps above 500ish meters has has snow since October.

Hope there's enough snow for the City of Lakes Loppet coming up. Fingers crossed.

After a ride like that, go get yourself a nice plate of tuna hotdish and a Grain Belt. You earned it.

i've been skiing for eight straight days
and on the bike only a few times in that stretch.
today there was so much ice glaze in the track
i seriously thought about taking off the skis
and sliding them down a drop off
in order to eliminate the temptation to ski
and be back on the bike!
we have freeze your fanny here tomorrow
so maybe i'll get out in the 40 mph wind gusts!
i'm much more likely to do so
with your inspirational post!
strong work
