I sent this to my sister (who loved it) and she thought that a neat addition would be to have a sort of time stamp, so for each of the items in the scale you could see the date when it was "discovered."

great stuff! thanks for posting. what a really simplified way for the average person to "get a feel" for the size of our known universe.

on a much more abbreviated note; scaling our solar system so that our sun is 1 inch from earth, the next closest star, Sirius, would be 1 mile away. (our sun is 93,000,000 miles miles give or take and Sirius is around 8 LYS away)

in astronomical terms, 8 LYS is nothing...
