I foolishly sold my Swisscross a number of years ago and now see that Ritchey is making them again. I see they now have integrated headsets and a carbon fork. Are they made outside the US? How do the welds look?

any opinions would be great,
Andrew

Not sure if you saw this (above) It would seem Mr. Ritchey made the first one himself, but I do not know who makes the rest...

Looks good, and from a reputable guy. What could go wrong?

Cool that it's back, but I thought it might be a bit cheaper than the Breakaway Cross. Stem, bar and post available in matching red. Some frame detail pics here:

It is a nice bike- not made in USA. but for that much $, you could get someone in US to do a custom steel frame that would be nicer.
Not hating on the bike- just seems like a lot of $ for a taiwanese steel frame.

I don't think it is that bad of a price, $1300 frame fork hs. Fork retails for $300. . I don't know where you can find a custom cx frame-fork for that price.

I think the Ritchey is awesome. If I were shopping for a CX bike it would certainly be high on my list.

I'll take the Tig welding (production version) and get one quick and pay far less than waiting for 7 years for a Swiss-Richie!

I think I'd still buy the the Richey, solely out of respect for the man himself.

Though you really can't argue with Curtlo Mr. Curtiss makes a heck of a 29er..

THose Ritcheys are stunning. He is one of the great innovators of the industry.

Have sold one. They arrived late, too late for cross.

Overall, well made, ride well. No fork shudder, plenty stiff fork. My only grip is the rear bake routing..with a wee guide for the cable, makes v brake install on the rear 'problematic. Can't really do it w/o taking out the drill.

But overall, nice bicycle. I have a demo one in the shop.

Actually the customer's bike.

$990 plus a fork...so it's about the same.

Fairly easy when the builder goes direct.

Gunnar Crosashairs is about $1200 but the Swisscross is well made, like all Ritchey, made in Asia, stuff.

Was Sachs making cyclocross bikes for racers in the 90's?

I don't remember the 1990s.
