I know we've got some NNJ/Westchester/Rockland County folks on the boards, help me out.

I got a pair of Rapha deep winter tights for the holidays... I'm short and still stocky, so they're a Large, and should be fine in the waist, but the length is a killer... Spec'd out at a 34" inseam -- I'm about a 29"..

Spoke to Rapha's US rep and he told me about a place in portland that would shorten them from the thigh area so the stirrups and reflective stripe would remain intact, but since I'm in NJ, he won't do this kind of surgery without seeing me in person -- I'm not flying to Portland.

So I'm looking for a tailor that's worth his weight in gold and can perform some surgery on these tights for me.. Anybody got a guy?

34" to 29" inseam? I'd sell them and buy a pair that fit better.

I need the room up top -- I just don't want to deal with the bunching behind the knee.. from what i've read and heard these are the bee's knees, and being chamoisless is a big plus for me -- won't quite have to go down to a 29" inseam, but really I think it's silly that Rapha specs the same length on their large tights as their XL tights..

i think i agree, unless the tailor really operates on the things, the fit isnt going to be right, with that length change, you're ankle will wind up where someones calf is supposed to be no?

i'm short too, i know all about these challenges.

Dimitrios The Tailor in Denville. He's on Main St. I've used him for many years to tailor my suits.

There's also a place called Custom Alterations in Fairfield, on Fairfield Rd. But I have no experience with their service.
