I'm looking at building up a bike with a 2005/06 Campagnolo Centaur CT crankset (50/34) for a square taper bb. I've found a similar Veloce model and was wondering what, if any, difference there are between the two cranksets. Thanks!

I can't say for sure, as I'm not overly familiar with the Veloce's, but I've seemed to notice that there's a difference in chain rings. Some Veloce's I've seen have what appears to be stamped steel chainrings, while the Centaur's have a nicely polished, maybe alloy? finish.

Yep...Finish level, graphics, and chainrings...but...functionally, I never really noticed a difference!

Chainrings and finish. I have a set of alloy 2006 Centaur cranks. They're cool, because they're actually 110bcd.

I've got both Veloce and Centaur CT cranks. Chainrings are nicer on the Centaur's and the Centaur seems a bit more polished. Functionaly identical.

Here's a couple of pics. I didn't have a Centaur CT, but the STD should still give you a good comparison to the Veloce. There's no doubt that the Centaur rings look nicer, but the Veloce has the same ramps and pins. Centaur has very slightly more polish, but I don't think you'd notice the difference without a Veloce side by side to compare. Centaur also has the CR bolts with the "BREV CAMPAGNOLO" imprint.

The finishing are different, and veloce since long time ago is using stamped chanrings. Centaur changed to stamped chainrings last year I believe.

IMO no hudge difference in the chainrings but it is a bling bling thing :D

bump.

any difference between veloce & centaur shifters of the same vintage...2005? besides the cut out in the centaur shifter, are the internals the same?

Internals are almost all the same between Veloce and Centaur in 2004-2006. 2004 was the first year for Veloce 10, but Veloce 9 was also available through 2005.

Small ring is still machined, big ring stamped.
