Can someone explain what this guy is smoking?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Panasonic-Aero-AR-6000-Road-Bike-Shimano-Dura-Ace-AX-Bicycle-Japan-Made-/290617764722?pt=Road_Bikes&hash=item43aa2b2b72#ht_2280wt_823

See his other listings as well. And stellar feedback numbers... The AR-6000 is not without appeal for some folks, but $5k for a rather crappy sample?

Decent bike. Looks like maybe the same frame as the Nishiki ONP. Priced about 500% too high though. He must want to keep it and his wife made him put it up for sale...

Looking at how relatively inline the rest of his prices are, I'd guess type. Probably supposed to be $499.99

Or maybe he is getting a divorce and these are values his wife is asserting in a bitter property settlement? That is, his listing would be just to prove that she's wrong.

I had one of those back in the day. They were nice bikes. His is pretty beat.

Parted out, one could expect $600+ for the components, in good to VG condition.

In his condition, maybe $600 for the whole thing, if that was what you are looking for. The DA AX stuff is quite collectable, and the frame was actually fairly nice, for that time. There are a lot of proprietary components, and condition is everything. The condition of this example is poor.

The headset is wrong, the brake hoods are incorrect, wrong bars, the ad is crappy...

The guy is smoking the good stuff.

Perhaps he's trying to launder money for someone.

Perhaps that is the bike he uses to ride to and from the dispensary.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether the bike is priced too high, or whether the man smokes really good Hawaiian - he does.
;)
But you can't hold the Kona Buds responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole illicit drug system? And if the whole illicit drug system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our recreational institutions in general? I put it to you, Forumites - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to this man and his add, but I'm not going to sit here, and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

Hmmm ha hmmm ha hmmm hmmmm [William walks out humming the Star-Spangled Banner] ...........

I would guess this would be closer to correct.
Either that or....errrr....never mind.

Anybody got any brownies!
