I know just another plastic knock off, but at least they took a calmed down approach for graphics and paint:

Reminds me of a Roubaix :).

We couldn't believe they were going to try and sell Hong-Fu frames for this much money. The wholesale price is ridiculous. They aren't even disguised well.

At least we get another road-disc option for those of us who ride half-the-time in the rain and long hills.

I am curious to see how this plays out. I wonder if they will see any push back from the independent component / bicycle brands they distribute?

Cheers,
KP

What are the alternative to QBP for those guys? I'm sure that there are other choices, but they seem to be the de facto go-to for getting your stuff in supply chain to the maximum number of retailers.

no? salsa, ridley, civia, etc. maybe they don't own the brands, but just distribute them?

I "get" it, but I can't see them selling well. The price is just out of sight. The markup on QBPs part must be astronomical.

yeah, not sure how Ridley will like this since these seem to directly compete with them... maybe they are going to stop distributing Ridley? This would complete the trifecta along with Salsa and Surly...

and it looks like they are doing the same thing they are with Salsa... meaning not just any QBP dealer can get them, they must a stocking dealer... at least for now anyway, I'm guessing this will change if they don't sell well...

Look at what Competitive Cyclist sells as complete bikes. The Tree Fort listing makes me think this is about offering a mail order bike to web fronts. I'm guessing those price points are designed to be "on sale" frequently.

Between Foundry and Whisky, looks like they're going for industrial chic or the steampunk crowd.

they're bikes for LBSes but the problem is that few LBSes want to sell carbon bikes you can buy without logos on ebay for $500.

It's an exercise in seeing how much marketing is worth. I mean, really: a carbon frame company with the name Foundry? Really? My dad worked in that carbon fiber foundry back in the '40s...

as far as the Salsa-for-every-qbp-dealer ship, it's sailed. dealer only now and for the foreseeable future which is better for the brand and better for the shop.
