Fellas,
Well, I thought I could go w/a threadless adapter, 1 1/8 stem and 31.8 bars but it just doesn't look appropriate w/1" steel fork. I'm thinking of using Nitto Deluxe stem. As much as I'd like to fit it w/Deda 215s, I'd like some other options. The 215s go about $100 but I'd like to keep the price-point $60-70. Any suggestions?

in the grand scheme of things what's $30 for a set of bars you like and will spend a lot of time on?

I have a steel Serotta and I ended up with two bar/stem combos: one is a Ti Serotta quill stem with Syntace Racelite bars (26.0 clamp) which I liked very much. The other setup is a Cinelli XA that is engraved Serotta, mated to a set of Cinelli TOP/ERGO 64 bars; this is their Model 64 "Giro d'Italia" bar that is optimized for use with Ergo levers. Serotta engraved quill stems show up on eBay fairly often. I hope this helps.

Good call. I put a threadless adapter on my CSI and the way the oversized stem and bars looks against the steel fork still bothers me. I'm thinking of going back to a quill stem with a set of these as they come in a 26mm clamp version:

As long as you're ok with the longish reach, the Nitto 176 "Dream" is unimproveable in my mind.

I would go with a Nitto Dynamic stem and your choice of Nitto bars. Not so heavy and you keep the classic - and beautiful - look. If you want to save weight you could go with the Ritchey WCS Classic bars in 25.8

That's what I did :)

I'm a huge fan of Nitto B-105s. They only come in 25.4 though. For some reason I prefer them to the Noodle.

The noodles have a longer reach than many bars, so if you go that way, you may consider getting a slightly shorter stem. For that reason, I just sold my 2 sets. I'm on the lookout for some medium reach bars, myself.

another advocate for Nitto Noodle and I run a Nitto Dynamic stem too. Looks great. I only wish I could find a Cinelli 1R stem in 26mm clamp size. Best looking quill stem I have ever seen.

I'm in the market for new 26.0 handlebars too, and the Deda 215 w/ shallow drop looks like a good one. Does anyone know how the 215 compares to the new Deda Speciale 26? They look very similar, but the Speciale is 100 grams heavier and less expensive. Can be had from ribble:
