good doc doof, the next time you get your knickers all twisted up trying to decide what bike to race next (said with affection and loads o' these :)  :p ;) :D  ) maybe check out this, particularly since its custom, and could fit your unique geo needs. and 'cause steve is a good guy to work with. and 'cause it's a good price.

personally i like the catepillar (sp?)* size welds, look kinda neat to my industrial sensibilities.
all kidding aside, the moment i saw this, i thought maybe this could be the answer to the good doc's racing frame woes. just an option.
*god, i'm a lousy speller. it's embarrassing sometimes.

Can't go wrong with a Co-Motion (/Hampsten). They make a great product.

Unique Geo?
Heck no!
Doof happily rejected the serotta fit of '03 and hasn't looked back
Doof is fine on 17cm of setback and 57 top, or 18cm of setback and a 58 top...(the gunnar, and the giordana respectively)...lots of items fit that bill
Doof raced the Gunnar last night...the Giordana last weekend...the Gunnar tonight...maybe the Giordana tomorrow
theyz tools...the doof is a doof...he has no woes other than his crappy starts and questionable two-laps-to-go decisions
last night: good thing -- in 7 laps, doof cornered, sprinted, and elbowed past 30 guys last night, and one cat 3 girl
Bad thing: doof had to do this to finish 30th. was too cooked with two laps to go to do anything but follow at the back of the main group.
note: don't be 60th at the end of lap one of a crit (doof's pal counted 12 guys behind him out of 73)

Dr. TT Ferrari says Doof must attack 3 times next race!!! Just for grins. Nail it for 2 mins. and clock it back to threshold and drift 10 back...repeat as necessary.
My coach taught me by example...it is alot harder to race at the back than the front. Strange but true.

Wow, those welds are ugly. Give me a Cannondale any day over that.

Because Cannondale files down their welds to look smoother. I think these welds wouldn't be so striking in a darker paint scheme.

is that bad? :p
! as long the bike agrees to it !

doof would rather have caterpillar welds
alu bikes are fugly unless they have a cool dario paint scheme
anyway, last night's race was a disaster
simple: Statesville NC is 62 miles from doof's house: 2 miles down the road, then 60 on I-77 north
leave at 3:30
accident on south I77 at Tyvola road ext. Sit and wait and crawl through Charlotte for a while.
hey, its all good! back up to 70 through Charlotte by 4:30!
accident at Ext. 23. Four vehicles. Doof sits and sits and crawls and crawls until hitting the Iredell county line (approximately 16 miles from Statesville).
its 5:30.
race at 6:15
doof can still get there, get kind of warmed up, and go go go
get to parking lot at 6:00
pee in bottle (porta potty? no time for that!)
get bike out
get bag out
6:05
drink a bottle of water in record time
6:06
pin number on
6:07
pump up tires
6:08
reach in bag under helmet
reach in bag under helmet, # 2
6:09
no shorts.
there is a reason this man is the doofus
6:10 -- start drive back to Rock Hill
7:15 arrive in Rock Hill
play with dog
go to bed

That's actually how a properly executed aluminium weld should look. The melting point and thermal conductivity of the material mean you get a bigger pool of molten metal for each torch strike, which translates into the caterpillar shape so clearly shown on that Hamsten.
As has already been mentioned, Canondale (and others) file their welds down for a smooth, almost fillet brazed, look. Others run a another pass of the torch over the weld to smooth out imperfections, ending up with the dreaded "toothpaste" weld. There are others still who fill the weld with auto body putty and then sand that smooth. All in the name of aesthetics.
You pays your money...

purely personal but...alu frames are industrial in their nature and appeal...a tool...a tool to (one hopes) go fast...and these welds look industrial to me...which i like...there's an honesty about them i like, a purity of purpose and form...other frames and materials achieve greater beauty, seek a different aesthetic, which is cool...this seems like alu being purely honestly alu, which to my eye is cool too.

his 15th anniversary frame looks very trick and sweet. as do a number of his other frames. what's his rep in australia? i've heard about him for awhile, but not alot. he seems best known for his alu frames.
