I'm sure it works great, but that battery/brain pack looks like a ham sandwich under the bottle cage. It's twice the size of a Di2 battery. The inability to put the pack anywhere else makes it a non-starter for me. I'm guessing they'll come up with a way to make it more discreet at some point.

Think you need to look at a Di2 and EPS battery. Both are under the cage(1 option with Di2) and the Di2 battery isn't 1/2 the size of the EPS battery.

:32 seconds into the vid, good shot.

Just an observation. Electronic answers no question, solves no problem, IMHO.

OK, maybe not half, but it is longer and wider for sure. It's just an opinion, but I think the EPS pack looks clunkier than the Di2. And Di2 can go anywhere, including inside the frame. Most builders have long since moved on from a Di2 battery under the cage with that ugly bracket.

Well, a lot of builders have a Di2, ultegra Di2 and also EPS versions of their frames but even so, most bicycles are not Di2 specific. Getting a frame plumbed specifically for electronic means no other group is ever going to go on the that frame, not a great idea, IMHO.

A lot of frames mount the battery somewhere else also, like LH chainstays.

Not trying to beat the dead ole' horse here but a battery there really doesn't sweat me up much. Anymore than a clunky pump many install under the bottle cage or the bag many install under their saddle.

Mavic tried a little out of the way battery.

Define 'better'.

Each has advantages and disadvantages.

Both have a few(one? consistent shifting over time) advantages over mechanical and a lot of disadvantages.

Cost, weight, function(Di2), crash worthiness, cost, complexity.....

Any internal routed frame can use either Campagnolo EPS, Shimano DI2 or Ultegra. The systems can also be installed on non internal frames taping the wires along the tubes. Campagnolo worked with Shimano (can you believe that!) to make the wire harnesses somewhat standard. The EPS Power/battery unit can be mounted anywhere on the frame and Campy is not recommending any specific location.

Zinn claims under the bottle mount is the only option for now. It is too bulky to fit under the nds chainstay, but maybe it could go low under the downtube? I don't know if Campagnolo is providing a short mounting bracket like Shimano does.

Lennard Zinn might be correct but my info comes directly from the sales manager at Campy when asked that specific question.

Interesting, the set up is pretty easy and has trimming on the fly if necessary.
