my special recipe risotto with green beans, chicken breast, and spinach.

That said, it's not the most delicious risotto, but is the most healthy. I make the better tasting versions for other occasions.

Pancakes and beer. There's something awesome about the sweetness of maple syrup combined with the moderate bitterness of a dogfish 60.

Usually my riding buddies and I will start talking about food halfway through the ride, so we usually eat whatever we talk about.

Olive Garden's never ending pasta bowl... burgers and beer... mac and cheese... bacon and eggs...

anythign goes, i have no rituals like some people do.

i'll sometimes bbq a couple nice burgers, some days it's a nice sandwich or so. Sometime i eat light before knowing keeping in mind that i want to stop by somewhere on the ride to try something new.

No rituals here, either.
Whatever is nearby and doesn't require a ton of prep. Thankfully my wife is a great cook/baker so there is always something.
Sometimes I don't have time for anything...food's not always the first priority.

Immediately post ride or race - banana and jug o' chocolate milk.

Later when I'm actually hungry I'll go for a full-fledged meal. Typically a sandwich with roast beef in proportion to bread (a wheat roll), provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, and avocado straight from my kitchen - I always add bacon if we have it around.

On top of the above I'll probably have some other quick carbs.

If I'm really strapped for time or just hitting the wall at school or work I actually drink some of those supplemented breakfast shakes.

I'm 5' 9" and weigh 125-130pounds and was at a time pretty obsessed with gaining weight - that's how you pick up the extra caloric intake from a breakfast shake. Now I eat 5meals a day and can't go a class at school without eating SOMETHING. I eat probably 3700calories a day. Gave up on gaining a long time ago.

whatever I can find in the fridge.

I did 30 miles yesterday and had the following post-ride...

two chicken quesadillas (corn tortillas, cheddar cheese, tomato, avocado)
black beans with salsa
raw veggies (carrots, bell pepper)
small green apple with almond butter
two quinoa cookies
glass of black cherry juice with club soda

it was delish.

Well, I just had some bacon and it was great after about 20 miles in 20 degrees of sunshine after 2 weeks of travel.

Last year, after a just shy of a 100 mile bike path/trail ride I stopped at a N.Y. Deli and had a Pastrami sandwhich. Best post meal meal ever!

Salty protien goodness.

Last time my buddy and I went to have burger for the time in Red Robin and I had Burger with Fried Egg. That was an awesome post meal. Maybe not every ride.

Hamburgers or spaghetti with meat sauce. Hard to say which I like the most. Both are excellent post ride food. And a soft drink. A soft drink really hits the spot after drinking water or sport drink for hours.

all this talk about pancakes makes me want to change out of my jammies and ride over to IHOP and order a tall stack... riding there to eat pancakes with lots of syrup & butter counts as a post ride meal, right? :D

Now I just gotta stop riding in the mornings.
