pick one item!

that piece of kit that really does it for you. the one you get excited to wear after laundry day. the one where you do a load of laundry specifically to get to wear it again sooner. the piece you would be absolutely crushed if it got destroyed.

whatcha got?

my sachs warsaw jacket is sweet
and with a long sleeve base layer
is good to about zero degrees!
i wear it with a kit for my noon ride
and i wear it over a sweater on the commute to work...
phenomenal gear!
to be honest...aside from hating my car...
the reason i commuted to work this morning
for an early c-section
was entirely to wear this jacket!

I have to say my Louis Garneau neopower bibs and shorts are really great. The compression in the fabric just feels fantastic when you pull them on.

And then you forget about them for the whole ride.

Perfect.

Easy......Wabi Woolens winter or sport jersey (after owning that Rapha long-sleeve jersey). I've worn each one three times this fall without any funk and I will wear each at least one more time before washing again. Rapha is simply not in the same league IMO as Wabi.

I love my Capo, Giordana, and Rapha jerseys.
They fit me perfectly, do what's expected, and have been durable.
Plus, they make me look & feel like a pro everytime I wear them, and that's priceless! :)

i was long an anti-rapha type, mostly because of their hyperbolic prose and their hyperbolic prices, but then there was a sale and it was our anniversary and i ended up with a navy blue jersey and a hot pink gilet. fantastic. that jersey is the most functional, comfortable, and durable piece of kit i've ever had. i don't notice any of it until i need to pull something out of a pocket, or until i adjust my position and find it, right where it is, making everything better. beautiful stuff, that. the rest of the rapha stuff i have is a long way off the back of this piece (i think i got a run of made in china junk that was on sale for a reason).

Ditto; 2 pair just went through their 3rd season as my go to bibs and they are still going pretty strong. I need to think about replacing them and cutting their mileage back a little. Those Smartwool PHD socks are fabulous too. I esp like the longer ones.

Boure SPF 35 long sleeve jersey. Fits well, light weight, full zip, well sized pockets, and just seems to disappear when riding.

for me its the merino wool baselayers, particularly the Rapha one. when i know i'm riding after work i'll wear it all day, so comfortable, both on and off the bike, and, IMO the perfect technical base layer, i dont know how i lived without wool in my life.

Pearl Izumi PRO Soft shell jacket - the large fits my 5'11" (175lb) frame perfectly - form fitting, long sleeves to cover the tops of your gloves, windproof, lightweight and warm. Also, a nice big rear pocket with interior pockets to separate your phone from other stuff. From 30-40 degrees, all I wear underneath is a long sleeve Craft baselayer.

I dislike feeling bulked up with layers and this has eliminated it - warm without the bulk.

+1, the price is reasonable compared to other brands, which are multiples more in cost but I can't imagine multiples better in performance.

I have one pair of Assos bibs, and they are amazing. I frequently do the bike laundry just to have them clean. Worth every penny.

Last year I ran out of clean socks and had to rush off to the races...grabbed a pair of shoe covers and was out the door. Turns out the covers are now my go-to cycling sock for everything!

DeFeet Cycling Shoe Covers. Amazing! Why??

-they hold their shape, and stay up. they are snug, but not too snug.
-they dissipate heat, and i have no hot spots in the shoes when racing or training
-they very quickly wisk away sweat
-they are slightly thicker, and i can tighten down the shoe steps for racing and high intensity racing without getting pinched.
-they are made of cordura nylon, which is very durable, and give a subtle amount of slip between your shoe and the sock, and your sock and your foot-i've never had a blister or a callous since using them

Cycling clothing is a personal preference, but these are worth a look, my cycling friends! If you buy them and don't use them as socks, you can use them for their intended purpose-shoe covers for the cold! Cheers
