On the Italian bay:

Anyone have an idea what the story with these might be? The seller doesn't seem to have a clue. The info is minimal. He does state that he has them in different sizes, which means that it must be a batch of NOS framesets from some warehouse. They are obviously not pantographed with the name of any Italian bike builder, or else the seller would have mentioned it.

I'd be VERY careful - especially with the lack of photos. I'm sure there are exceptions, but generally the Italians aren't known for their beautiful chroming (assuming it is Italian).

I saw something sort of like this once that a local guy was selling as an Orbea built Titan, or a Titan built Orbea...I forget the exact deal.

There are enough photos to confirm your suspicions. The seat cluster looks indifferent, at best.

Likely never meant to be sold in present level of finish. Would have had paint over most of it, with only certain details showing as chrome.

For a mystery frame like 700 bucks for it is like being to optimistic IMO.

That frame is not even fully chromed as we know it, is not polished in some places so I assume the frame was painted and chromed. The seller is asking way too much.

This sounds like a credible hypothesis. These must be framesets built by, say, Bianchi, but left unpainted in their warehouse. The pics are bad, but it does look as if the finish is not uniform, i.e., they were not meant to be fully-chromed.

I think assuming these are Italian made really is an assumption.

FYI - for $700 I'd want a LOT more bang for my buck than this mystery meat.
