Somehow I managed to bend the cage on my DA 7800 rear derailleur. Must be the monster watts, obviously. Anywho, is the cage replaceable and if so, anyone know where I can get one? Thanks.

Yes, they are replaceable. Is it the inner, outer or both?

Thanks guys, that's great info. But now I think I may have a bigger problem. The wrench at my LBS said the derailleur cage is bent, but on closer inspection, I think it's actually the dropout itself! I wonder if that can be straightened.

Yes, an easy process. Your LBS can do a rear hanger alignment that should fix the problem if there's no "serious" damage other than just bending. Should cost $15 or so.

If you're a DIYer...

I'm a chronic hanger bender, I should probably just fork up and get my own.

What's the hanger made of? Aluminum? There could be trouble ahead.

Thanks, but it's not the hangar that's bent. It's the dropout on the frame. Can that also be bent back into alignment?

If the dropouts are bent, your wheel would probably be unable to turn...

What's your LBS doing on this? Why not let them do what they do?

You're right -- I should just go back downtown to the LBS. Of course, that takes all the fun out of bicycle-induced hysteria.
