I purchased a used Moots Mooto-X frame in excellent condition a while back and might be moving it along to the next one in line as its on the smaller sizing spectrum in my range...any thoughts on pricing? Its a 20" and in excellent condition except for a bit of chainslap...

thanks, Indy

That's the hardtail, right? 29er are holding value much better than 26" wheel (sadly I know this from recently moving a YBB), assuming recent vintage, my guess (and that is all it is) is that in today's economy, and selling at the beginning of the winter, $1,600, but I may be off, and even at that price it may take awhile. That's for frame, headset only.

Search Ebay for completed listings. Give you a good idea.

IMHO, slightly smaller market for the MootoX vs the YBB version (since that is what Moots is really known for), unless it has sliders.....then please ship it to me :)

Yep its a hardtail and approx 1.5 yrs old...I was thinking in the $1500-1600 range as well, but it might take awhile...

I'd say the two responses are fairly accurate, perhaps a wee bit low. 29ers are big right now and anybody who has ridden one knows that big wheels add a bit of 'suspension' to the equation. Yep, YBB Moto-x is the best selling Moots but the really nice 29er hard tail is right behind. Selling with suspension and headset helps also, of course.

I'd add to my response...Hmmm...just my size.

Just my size and interested. How tall is the headtube? Anyone have experience with the project 321 lefty adapter?

Yes talk to jack brunk.

Best fork on a sweet frame.

A lefty fork would work great on this frame. A Project321 adapter allow you to use the lefty and gives you the flexability of using negitive rise stems that most riders need on a lefty frame. I had a YBB 29er set up this way and it was trick.

Do you guys have issues with the lefty forks? I've got a couple of friends here that have blown their forks a few times and are out a bike for a few weeks each time. In the short Summers here in MT. thats a bummer. They ride the top of the line Cannondale 29er's. Just curious.

I've been fortunate with the one's I've owned. Like all forks brands, you need to maintain your equipment. I think a local shop that deals with the lefty also helps. I see a bunch of busted Fox's, RS and others in the shop all the time.

Needle bearing reset is an easy but necessary maintenance item. Quick and easy to do. Ignore it and one could cause larger ($$$) damage to the fork.
