Does anyone know if you can use HS1 rotors with BB7's? or do I need the g2 rotors/what other rotors can I use? sorry for the noob question, first disc brake bike.

You can use any/all 160? if that is your size. The only thing I've noticed is that different brands can be a different thickness. If you have multiple wheelsets this will matter and I suggest you get the same rotors for all your wheelsets.

some have different center bolt patterns, so I think that's something to watch out for (I think it's centerlock vs 6-bolt)

well, my hubs are 6 bolt and so are the rotors. after doing some research, i found there are some issues with the BB7's pads being wider than the hs1 track and rubbing on the rotor arms. some say it matters, some say it doesn't.

Actually they say that because u can move the calipers upper and then wont touch the arms of the rotors, but all depends if you have or not room to move the brake caliper. With some bikes u have room to move the calipers, with other ones u dont. So it depends.
