Too bad it's 'unavailable'.....11s? How'd they get to 11 speed? One in front plus 10 in the rear? 11s?

11-speed Alfine gear hub.

But that's a lot of scratch for a Bianchi Milano.

Looks like it has a rear derailleur to me.

It's got 'disc breaks'......

Who gets paid to write that crap?

If a single one of those sells, PT Barnum was right. Well, he was right in any case.

Ok, but it's not; it's an Alfine chain tensioner. http://www.bikeman.com/store/graphics/00000001/product_images/CH/CH5500.jpg

Pretty cool looking bike, if you ignore the ridiculous price.
Looks like the seatstay wishbone might be a modular, removable piece, so why not have sliding dropouts and a Gates belt? Or at least sliding dropouts and lose the tensioner? Too much work for the AAA guy the owner will undoutedly call when he fixes a flat, I guess.

PLooks like the seatstay wishbone might be a modular, removable pieceNo, those are just rack mounts.

Chain tensioner, OK, I get it, but why does it need it? If its internally geared, I don't see the need. My old 3 spd Sturmey Archer/ Hercules didn't have one IIRC. They should have gone one step further and made it a belt drive IMO.

So when did they come out with an 11 speed, I don't pay much attn to stuff like that, but the last one I saw I think was 8 spd and it weighed about 5 lbs. Well maybe not 5, but it was pretty heavy, not that it would really matter on a bike like that.

It's just really comical in so many ways. . . .

No, those are just rack mounts.
That was my initial thought, and they probably are, but the top of the stay looks to be a funny mold shape for just a rack mount. Who knows...I certainly won't be seeing one up close.

Chain tensioners are used for bikes with vertical drops, or horizontal drops that aren't long enough - where you can't tension it by moving the wheel.

One common way that used to be accomplished was by just using a derailleur.

11?? wow...if they were not that expensive i would add one of those (even a 8 speed) to the scott sub20 i have. I'm impressed tho.

How heavy the wheel is compared to a regular road one with a cassette?? This would be great for people that has problems of crossed chains, not climbers and obviously Frank Schleck!!

I tried using a 9sp IGH and it rode HEAVY. There were considerations...it was a Surly Karate Monkey, which is not a light bike, and it had a generator hub on the front (also heavy). I think most of the dead feeling came from the wheels though...the 9sp SRAM IGH I had was pretty rough.

Some people love IGH - I'm just not one of them. For me, the trade off of shifting while stopped and protection from the elements isn't worth sacrificing QR wheels and the way they roll.

The specs:

black carbon fiber frame with green/red/green web detail
black seat and handlebars recalling the iconic diamante pattern
'bianchi by gucci' logo featured on seat and frame
eleven speeds
hydraulic disk breaks
available with water bottle, headlights and wheel reflector
double sided pedals are suitable for toe clips and regular shoes
weights 22 lbs

For 14k, you should at least spell brake properly.

Don't forget the matching water bottle (http://www.gucci.com/us/styles/284375JAT001074#) and helmet (http://www.gucci.com/us/styles/284374J391R1090#). After all, when you're spending that kind of money what's another $995?

Oh wait, you need two bottles so make that $1100.

I believe this bike is made not for the 1%. But for the 1% of the 1%.

Chain tensioner, OK, I get it, but why does it need it?

Because they re-purposed a frame with vertical dropouts. Would be more elegant with an EBB or sliders, but hey, why sweat the small stuff on a 14000 bike? :o

I have an old Bianchi Milano w/7 speed Nexus. I could be persuaded to let it go for 1/10 the price of this bike.
