Rapha shop rides blocking roads in Greenwich, CT

A drive along Riversville Road Sunday morning, GFP came upon a group of about 20 bicyclists heading south, and turning onto Pecksland. Following the group as they continued on to Zacheus Mead Lane, Lake Ave and onto Parsonage, traveling three, four and even five abreast for several miles.

This car was unable to safely pass the bicyclists, though a motorcycle was able to pass. The group did not stop for a single stop sign.

A car affiliated with the group, Rapha cycle club, pulled out from where it was waiting on a side street along Pecksland and followed the pack of bikes. The group cycled between 8 mph and 30 mph, depending on terrain, and the driver followed with hazard lights on for several miles.
It bothers me when I see cyclists doing this. They wouldn't be happy if they were the one in the car stuck behind inconsiderate club riders.

I recently got stuck behind a Horseless Carriage club run...

about 10-12 vintage Model T-type autos chugging along a winding, two-lane county road at 15 mph (posted limit was 55 mph).

in the 15 minutes it took to get an opportunity to pass them, guess how many times they pulled over to let the two dozen cars stacked up behind them pass...yep, zero.

the 'all about me' mentality is everywhere.

I bet if a marked FBI van packed with SEC enforcement agents were tailing that group, there's be new personal Strava records set in Fairfield County.

On my ride home, many cars got stuck as a couple drivers tried to make it through before the red. Tangled up traffic for three traffic light cycles. And drivers wonder why we don't have any respect for them. Car drivers just scoff at the laws. A sense of entitlement.

Yeah, and this in no way a narrow road. These guys should come drive in Provence on roads twice as narrow with no center divider and our group that is regularly 30+.

It's behavior like this that make cyclists so popular among drivers...
