If Sir Paul did a re-make of Ebony and Ivory with Kanye he would get some street cred...but would have re-title it Ebony and Elderly

Why would they know? McCartney has not been relevant to the music scene for forty years.

The fact that things like kanye are popular (along with anything else on the radio) proves that we're witnessing the degradation of society. In my opinion...

I bet a lot of people said the same thing when Elvis was popular. And then the Beatles. Etc. Etc. Etc.

If this existed back in the late 70s: Who's this Bing Crosby fellow singing with David Bowie???
Times change. Kanye hasn't made a bad album yet, and McCartney is saavy enough to realize this might introduce a generation to his music when he was last relevant in, what, 1974? |

This is true, however, I feel (and this is my opinion) that the stuff on the radio is particularly void of meaning and talent. Although I have never felt a connection with my generation. It feels like I'm an audience to the Philistine take over of the planet.

We're even. If he wasn't next to Sir Paul with a caption under him, I'd never know who Kayne West is, either.
And, it's "Get the HELL off my lawn!" |

This is what happens when the remaining Beatles purse string holders made it so hard to acquire their songs digitally. Beatles weren't even available on ITunes until recently. Most kids know Led Zep for the opposite reason, although they may have a hard time figuring out who Robert Plant is if he was sat down next to whatshisname.

Sir Paul is sort of forgotten...a fart in the wind. He had it going on with the Beatles that's about it. Kenya is a knucklehead with a terrible smile. |

Music does not occupy the same cultural significance today to broader society as it did during the time of The Beatles. Frankly, with all that can still be found as troubling in today's society, I find it rather disappointing that music hasn't found more to say.
I say this as a response to the knock on Mr. McCartney that he is not relevant - I'd agree that he is not as relevant as he once was but also that today's music is equally irrelevant today to the entire spectrum of culture and society. So even if the slur of 'not relevant' is semantically correct, it is a disparagement that shouldn't single out Mr. McCartney as an offender. I'd freely admit that I know little about today's influential music acts other than who gets mentioned in mass news outlets - so what I know ends at Taylor Swift and she is hardly an icon of poetic insight to reflect on a complex world. Which taken further is less an indictment of her than her fans who really aren't interested or want to hear about the real world. And yes, I know even saying this is unfair to her and her fans - they just like the music and want to see a good show. BTW, in mentioning Robert Plant, IMO he is as relevant as is possible to be in today's music. His "lullaby...And the Ceaseless Roar" is very good & sophisticated work. He has done the best at establishing his own musical identity and credentials over any ex-band member anywhere much less as an expat from a behemoth like Led Zeppelin. Well maybe Peter Gabriel Has done as well but Genesis is unknown to most and involved far less pressure than a life post-Zeppelin. |

Kids these days don't do crossword puzzles. Why would they know who Paul McCartney is?
