Older Uniglide has a 32t maybe there is a 30t in one of thier series

I am currently running the Tiagra 12-30 cassette with a 6600 mid-cage RD on a Ridley frame and it fits fine. The B screw is only about halfway in as well. I bet I could squeeze a 32 on there no problem.

The Tiagra 12-30 cassette is available on amazon prime for like $35

Shimano now lists on its website a 12-30 Ultegra 10 speed cassette:

12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-27-30

I believe the largest cog the 6700 derailleur (like the 7900) is 28.

THIS. macho refusal to use wide range cassettes should have died with the 80s. I have a friend running the new tiagra 12-30 with an ultegra 6600 RD and he says it works great.

Tiagra is still 9s, pretty sure.

Take 2...see the 12-30 Tiagra 10s cogset.

The cassette I listed below is a 10 speed Ultegra, for sure, as it is on Shimano's website under the choices for cog configuration. I am having a new bike built and am using Dura-Ace 7900 primarily. The max size given on the Shimano website for Ultegra or Dura-Ace is 28 teeth. I bought a 28 tooth Dura-Ace cassette but would purchase the 12-30 Ultegra if I knew the Dura-Ace 7900 derailleur would work with it (or Ultegra) with my 50/34 compact. I have a larger cassette (11-34) Shimano XT and a 9 speed Shimano XT derailleur purchased for hilly rides. I thought Shimano might come out with a larger cog cassette. The Ultegra 12-30 is quite appealing to me.

Out of curiosity I threw on a IRD 12-30 cassette with DA 7800 derailleur, it is close to being at it's limit but seems to work fine.

Since the b limit screw sin't screwed all the way in, it's not really 'at it's limit'..yep, a 12-30 on a 7900 RD would probably be fine.

Sandy, I'll go even further and say; because the geometry of the 6700 and 7900 rear derailleurs are extremely close, if not identical, and because of the success that I've had using 11-32 cassettes with 6700 derailleurs, the 7900 rear derailleur will *easily* handle a cassette with a 30t large cog.

That's not the limit I'm talking about but you're right it was not needed in this instance for clearance.

You'd also be exceeding the RD's total capacity by one tooth, which isn't much but may be a problem in a few cases. It's interesting to note that Shimano media announced a new mid-range RD for bikes with 11-30 (and/or 11-32, not sure) cassettes for 2013. At some point total capacity is exceeded too far.

Note that it will not work with D/A 7800 hub.

It works with all Shimano standard 8/9/10 speed hubs.
