700x28 Gumwall Smackdown!!!

Ok, it's not nearly as exciting as all that ....

I am in the process of outfitting my "free" Benotto with tires, and seek your input.
The contenders are
Riv Ruffy Tuffy

Clement Strada LGG

some version of the Panaracer Pasela

..... or any other gumwall suggestions that the Paceline might have. I have added Soma Moustache bars and a B17, but it's bone stock otherwise.

This will be a coffee shop ride bike, with an occasional flat club ride thrown in.

Any input/opinion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Henry

I've got the lgg. I don't have enough miles to discuss durability, but I was pleasantly surprised with the ride and feel vs price and size.

They look great too

Oh, ive a got an early 90s rear led light that would probably fit on that reflector mount if you want something retro and more functional.

Ruffy Tuffys are the devil's spawn. Like hobbyhorsing a moped.

Compass Stampede Pass 700x30 nominal 700x32 actual are very nice; supple, roll fast etc. I used them for D2R2 this year with no complaints. Based on that, I would warmly recommend Grand Bois Cerf green in 700x28.

Rivendell Roly Polys are very very nice. Little tougher, little slower than the Stampede Pass by my estimation. Still highly recommended.

I've got the cerfs in 28's. Not enough miles to tell you yet, but quality looks very good and initial rides have been good. Check back in a month.

Riv Roly Polys, like Christian said. I've only ever gotten two flats in at least 3 years on several pairs, and they were both due to large shards of glass. Very nice tires.

That's why I would look at the lgg. $33 per, easy to find and it is also folding, not wire bead.

I'm on a pair of Challenge Parigi-Roubaix.

They ride real nice but do seem a little soft/fragile. So far no flats though. Really like how easily they mount but apparently, thats an issue. Especially on newer wide rims.

Feel like I'm posting this bike way too much but I really love it! (Excuse the dirty sidewalls)

I think the new Compass Chinook Pass 700Cx28 are finer.

I have the LGGs in 25. They ride nicely and don't seem to be any more prone to flats that the more expensive tires I've used on the same wheelset/bike.

Another vote for the GB Cerfs. I have a set of 26s on my Masi GC. They have a period-correct look and ride very nicely. However, I only have about a 100 miles on them and have already had two punctures.
