Weekend Ride

I am very much enjoying this bike.....a lot! Took it for a 45 mile club ride on Saturday that was great fun. On Sunday, I took the Concours and the Fierte IT for short comparison rides. Both bikes have very similar rides, but the handling of the Concours as well as the component group and bars make it easily the more enjoyable ride.

Got some new wheels for the bike so had to take it out for a nice ride yesterday on some dirt roads to make sure they are strong and some fast descents in cross winds to make sure they handle properly!

I had the bike listed for sale but am now smitten with it after adding the more appropriate wheels and managing to find a few hours to use the thing on the weekends!

I didn't ride it but several of my friends did. It was bloody hot, for one thing; and due to road closures they had to revise the route, and as a result it was more difficult this year than it ever has been in the past. One friend, who has done it several times, said it was the hardest ride she has ever done. (I've also heard that those new hard bits aren't going to be there next year.) And then, to cap it all off, an electrical storm at the end, not nearly as bad as the one a couple of years ago, but still, the crowning insult.

Today was my "Saturday" and I managed to sneak out for a quick ride around some Southern Maine beaches, hitting Wells, Drake's Island, Parson's, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport. Fall is definitely in the air and finally ended up having to wear a jacket today
