Couldn't be happier with mine, and crushed they decided to change the form factor with the new phone. The first gen's size is perfect in my view.

Yeah if Hansel and Steve Jobs didn't think big phones were cool, then I don't either...<looks down at my 4.7" galaxy nexus>....oh snap, nevermind.

Is 4.7" the happy medium? 5.5 is so big that it is not much smaller than the 7" Google Tablet....

Another thought--even if you're not liking the new phone, you should get one anyway (unless you plan on dropping the service within the next 2 years). Your monthly payment includes a subsidy for a new phone (I'm not talking about the financing thing they've got going now with all smart phones). If you keep your old phone and keep paying the monthly service fee, you're giving money away. Buy a new phone, sell it for $5-600, then continue to use your old phone.

But I'm with you--my 5 was supposed to have been better than my 4, and that wasn't the case (for me). Unfortunately, I'm going to be the guinea pig for everyone else waiting to get one.
Slate piece on the battery life issue. I've never had a mac product, except for a 2nd or 3rd generation iPod. I honestly don't see what the hype is about. They've done an incredibly good job marketing and creating appealing products, but I really don't see anything in this new phone that makes me say, "wow, Apple is so far ahead of everyone else." if anything, it is just the opposite. An admission that they were wrong on screen size. If they feel like they had been right, they'd include a version of the 6 in the original form factor.

People have different size hands. 5 is about the comfortable limit for my wife. To small for my hand.

I also need a bigger screen if Im using a smartphone for any of the smart stuff. My eyes ain't what they used to be. So 6+ for me. Its the digital equivalent of this:

I'm still using a flip-phone, but the family had an intervention so now I'm somewhat reluctantly shopping for an iPhone, probably get the 6 (not plus).

My iPod Touch (2nd gen) and Garmin Nuvi (old) but need replacing so I figure the iPhone 6 can replace both for about the same price.

I just hope someone will shoot me in the head if I start stumbling around with a smartphone held to my face.

6+ was to shut up the android fan boys and to make Wall Street happy. I think if Jobs were still alive there would be no 6+.

Fine, then they need the 6 to be normal sized and the 6+ can be huge. I'm just mad they are forcing the "faithful" to go big. Honestly, I'd keep the iPhone 4 size if I could, with newer internals.

I HATE this trend. I want my phone to be usable as a PHONE, and be very portable and pocketable. I know I am indeed a retrogrouch, but I use Apple stuff and I work with computers. Does this make sense? NO. But I am pissed. I am holding back swear words. Same feelings as the new Campy cranks, really.

A waterproof NFC capable 5s would be ideal.

I have HUGE hands. I can easily palm my full size ipad, but I still want a small phone.
