Yep...another yucky saddle sore post.
I have developed what could be charitably called a "goose egg" on one side of my taint at the taint/leg crease. It is NOT a saddle boil, abscess...or whatever, it most closely resembles a goose egg type swelling you might get if you hit your head.
No, I don't need one of those droopy Dali-esque SMP saddles. The real problem is that general walking and sitting keeps it irritated. Any suggestions? No, this would not be better with pictures.

sounds like we're going to have to lance it.
no, seriously, how long has it been present and was there a typical ingrown hair type sore there first?

Cetaphil Antibacterial Soap
It’s not going to help you now, but Cetaphil may help to prevent saddle sores and folliculitis. https://www.cetaphil.com/gentle-clea...ibacterial-bar. You can purchase it at a pharmacy.

Sorry, I read the thread on the Lance podcast just before this one and it almost made me spit my coffee out. Great way to start the morning.

That size sore seems like it needs to be seen by a doctor.. I'd just do it, the doctor will probably get you back on the road faster than if you just tough it out.
Doctors see everything.. I was super embarrassed but showed one to the doctor a year or so ago, turned out to be no big deal at all, didn't require taking my underwear off. I was getting a ton of them last year, turned out to be bad cleat position. Changed my cleat position and have had 0 irritation this year. |

I get smaller ones in my leg-to-butt crease from time to time. Very sore when I get back on the bike, but I do find zinc cream helps quite a bit. Good luck!

Make a black and white video of it being lanced, it's going to be epic.
Seriously, go to the doctor. Goose egg size sounds beyond what I'd tackle myself

at the very least I'd rest and not ride until it eases up. if it doesn't improve (at all) after a day or two, a doc is definitely the best option |

Not a boil. It's a large egg size swelling with no skin abrasion, little redness and no bruising. Nothing remarkable outside of it's size.

Is your saddle a little high, too far back, and pointed down? I had a similar issue before, but then I lowered my saddle, moved it up a tad, and flattened it out. No more soreness.

Apparently the pressure in that area compressed the soft tissue between the saddle and the bone and it made things pretty darn unhappy. I stopped riding for a time to get my lower back straightened out and it went away on its own during that time. Then when I got back on the bike I was sitting square and all was fine. Any chance something similar is happening with you? dave |

As much as it would be weird to go, I'd have someone look at it. Oh, and best of luck.
