Not sure if it's been posted yet but the first that came to mind for me was:
The Doors - Light My Fire - Long Version:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWs2NrmYzPE

Yeah, just barely over 7 minutes but this was broadcast on the radio about once an hour back in the day.

Came here to post this. Did. Then saw yours.

One of the best concert-going experiences of my life was seeing Built to Spill and Modest Mouse play back-to-back shows in 1997 at the Rock Candy in Seattle.

My future wife, who I wouldn't meet until 9 years later, was at the show too.

Did I miss something, or did we get to nine pages in a thread about long jams without Fela?

A "jam" needs to be at least 10 minutes long.

The Yes cover of Simon and Garfunkle's 'America', 8:33.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9KEikIVIbg

Which did get some radio play a long time ago....
And there are plenty of other looong Yes songs. But mostly so highly orchestrated that I don't know if they would count as Jam songs.

Zappa and the mothers come to mind as having long songs that were a mix of improve and Frank's on-the-fly conducting. Plenty of >10min tracks there.

The Florida Guitar Army....great band. I guess I'll date myself and say that the first time that I saw them live was less than a year after that was recorded.

This era is not lost the jams just aren't getting onto albums and/or those bands are not charting.

It sure seems almost everyone who plays music with other people is doing long jams on a regular basis. It's so integral to playing & practicing it's probably impossible for it to ever be lost.

I'd never seen this thread, I listened to "Mountain Jam" last night. Ironic.
