3 pages?

Yeah, *hockey tape.*
That's the image I had in my mind--non stretchy, clothlike tape with a medium amount of adhesive--but couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called. That said, I used the 3M electrical tape--forget which model number--and just pulled it tighter. And it all came together as I wrapped the bar. BTW, the black tacky Fizik Performance Tape is a pretty great thing. IMHO it hits the Goldilocks spot of being padded without channeling MC Hammer's pants. And I'm really liking it on my black Tarmac because of the way the textured tone-on-tone look complements the 3K nude carbon. But let me say, what I *love* about this place is that we can spend 3 pages on a question that most groups wouldn't deign to even answer. Chapeau, Paceline. |

set up cables and housing so you have tension on the system. Wrap the 3m e tape TIGHT starting by the lever. Housing will bend a bit so go for it Happy riding |

Yeah, you'd think it's February.
Tape it enough so it won't roll or move with time under the bar tape. Don't run the cable or Di2 wire too tight so it would pull out in a crash. Don't overthink it. Please. |

I use used packing tape pulled from bubble wrapped used bike parts.

Fiberglass
Fiberglass tape won't stretch and locks down cables well. I ran out last weekend and had to use elec tape and was reminded of how big of a PITA it is, especially when taping in the summer heat and humidity.

That's why I use super 33+. It does well into hot, cold or humid.

I do one complete wrap on the housing, and then one or two complete wraps around the bar. Think about the wrap direction on the housing and use the leverage created to your advantage. |

I use hockey tape. My kid had to make a choice between fulltime hockey or split time between basketball and football in fourth grade (fourth grade!). He chose the latter so I've got craploads of hockey tape. If I had craploads of some other tape I'm sure I would use it as well.

There are many possible hang ups in putting a bike together...this shouldn't be one of them. 3 separate wraps of electrical tape pulled snug on each side is plenty. Anything more complex than that is waaaaay over engineered. Who cares if it stretches. It certainly isn't messy. The bar tape is what keeps things secure, not whatever industrial strength engineering department approved tape solution one can dream up to keep the pesky cables in place _prior_ to wrapping the bar tape.

I use this Scotch plastic tape. It does not leave residue and you can reuse it over and over if you change your bars. I use it as finishing tape for the bar wrap too. It appears similar to electrical tape but I have found it works much better.

I use the cheapest electircal tape I could find at the local hardware, for the shop, buy 10-15 rolls..works fine. You are going to wrap the bars anyway, hopefully correctly. maybe we need another 44 posts about hbar wrapping(inside out, bottom to top)...
