Went to Chris King's Sonoma Gourmet (Metric) Century This Weekend...

...and had a fantastic time! The food was spectacular, the course was well-marked with lots of volunteers out to guide folks along the traffic-heavy sections, and lots of local framebuilders came out to pitch in and enjoy the day as well. I highly recommend going next year (or the ones in Oregon) -- check out my write-up here.

damn, that pizza looks good. hard to justify a trip from the east coast to eat pizza and ride a bike... I didn't say impossible, just hard.

Thanks for the write up!

Yeah, I'd make a holiday out of it and have this be the crowning event of the trip!

A lot nicer than the metric century I rode today here in MA. It was blustery, barely got over 50 and all I ate was a couple of cliff bars. Definitely picked the wrong ride...

Wait... the cost of that event is only $175???

I'm talking to my wife about doing that next year! Thanks for the insight, that looks like an awesome day.

Yeah, it was a real bargain -- plus we got a free t-shirt, water bottle, snacks at all the stops, a cocktail -- along with a massive amount of food!

The perfect time if year in a perfect place. Thanks for the heads-up. As long as Pad-drag wash't there, no way there could be a negative review.

Got to get there for that ride. I keep hearing how great it is and how Chris often serves some of the food. Sounds like a great time. Glad you had a good time.

I would hate to have to weigh in before and after that ride!

It was a great event. The only century that is better is the Gourmet Century in Portland hosted by the same people, but with the local cuisine and chefs. All other centuries pale in comparison.

Man, bummed I missed it. The Boss was laid up with a stomach bug so I was at home taking care of her. Next year...

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try and do this next year. It might be just the thing to get lady-tumbler out on a longish ride with me.

plattyjo,
Great report and what an awesome ride. Next year I need to do it. Is it hard to get in? When do you sign up?
Thanks
Chuck
