OT - New iPad
Anyone getting one?
I've been a hold out on the iPad, yet to own one. But man, it looks so tempting to get a 3G model with the cheap tablet data plans now available, tablet TV, etc. It looks like such a nice thing to have to use on the road, etc. Now to convince the wife... no ipad 5 yet! the newest one is simply called the ipad and doesn't have a numerical designation...and the new version is 4G which is pretty sweet
i am personally waiting for a smaller form factor... |

I have an original iPad with 3G and its probably the best electronic gadget I've purchased, maybe, ever. I travel for work a lot so its nice to have a bunch of books, there are some cool work related apps, and you can browse the web while sitting in airports without breaking out the laptop. I will caution you that I personally don't think its a replacement for the laptop but it is pretty handy.

"Reports of a 7.85-inch "iPad mini" have been circulating for some time, and it seems reasonable to conclude that Apple has at least been toying with the concept. There has yet to be any firm evidence, however, that the company is seeking to move forward toward a public release." Tony Last edited by Tony T; 03-16-2012 at 11:40 AM. |

Steve Jobs basically said that a smaller iPad wouldn't ever happen, even over his dead body. Considering that smaller tablets are not exactly setting the market on fire and that Apple can sell every iPad is makes, the likelihood of their producing a smaller iPad anytime soon is very unlikely. All that said, my new iPad arrived yesterday and the display is as amazing as stated and the 4G is almost as fast as my FIOS connection. |

I have a 3G #2 iPad that I will be giving to family to get the new one. Really would like to have a laptop carried with me, but the pad is just so much lighter and smaller.
PROS: for me size, weight, ability to use in meetings /at desk without obstructing view while typing, ***BOOKS** (which you can't do on laptop) A lot of the sites info I want I can't get to on my iPad because the content won't play (like sites for work too). Mostly for me the books.

So, while I don't expect to see an iPad mini, I wouldn't be all that surprised if Apple eventually built it. |

I know that I would not have bought one if the screen had been smaller.
I tried a friend's Blackberry playbook, and I really didn't like the small size. |

I have the iPad2, 16 GB Wifi only. Unless you plan to download a lot of movies from iTunes it is more than enough.
I wanted to get the new one because of the new screen but my wife wanted a new laptop instead and we gave more money to Apple. If you have Netflix it will be very useful.
