[QUOTE=kppolich;2206888]Setup for some weekend bike packing after Ragbrai
This is a beautiful build. What front bag are you using? Love the artwork on the stem. Was that done by you or the painter? |

It's an Urbano- I removed the top tube decals. They actually market that model as urban/commuter/light tourer. It's designed for 700c wheels, but the wide 650b are a perfect fit.

How do you like the ride? I like your setup. Looks like a lot of fun.

Still debating on build but thinking it'll be Ultegra 6800 I have on hand with Spyre SLC brakes. I only have 700c wheels but was hoping to slap a buddy's byway 650b tire/ wheels into it to see if it worked but you've saved me the trouble. I picked up an Enve CX 12mm TA fork and Easton carbon AX bars from Bike Tires Direct already so I'm getting close. |

Those rims are 27 internal and there is about 3mm clearance at the left chainstay with the Byway tire. (There is a little more room on DS since there is a plate there). I measure about 49mm with my calipers. At some point want to try Switchback Hill. The sense I have gotten is that they will be wider so it will be very close. |

That sounds about right with what I've read, which, incidentally, includes your quote of Jan Heine's post on 650B group here. Another recent 650B post reports 50 width tubeless on 25mm internal rim. Just measured the Bypass again and the rear is at 50. So again, will be very close with the SBH. It may not fit on there tubeless. I may have less than 3mm clearance. Would bet it fit on there with tube, but that's no fun! At any rate, am dying to try it now. Last edited by marciero; 07-24-2017 at 07:10 AM. |
