with over 2500 mico brewing companies in the US

I would guess a high percentage brew an IPA and I bet nearly all are very worth drinking. Opinions here would suggest everyone has one or more faves.

Sooo many choices

I think right now I have eight favorite IPA's. Four that are within an easy bike-to. Hard to beat a local IPA on tap. Bastard Kat IPA rivals Racer five along with Stone. And another local Laconner IPA. Pliny young and old,Firestone, Green Flash, Lagunitas,Sculpin and the list goes on. It take a lot longer than it used to to drive west coast. Isn't it great.......

General swillin' - Dogfish Head 90
Local good - Harpoon Leviathan Imperial IPA

Missing in action but an all time fav - Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner
Anxiously awaiting a next "fix" of 100+ IBUs.

Of course, just my opinion and assuming all are reasonably fresh.
Nice list. Agree with 3 out of 6; however, I wouldn't include The Younger due to the nature of its distribution.

At the moment, I might add Stone's Enjoy By to my top 5.

IPA people, drink the above and enjoy. It's all good. Amazes me how you have to enter your MM/DD/YEAR to look at a beer manufacturer's website, but pot is legal.

Goose Island and Dale's FTW.

If you are in Portland, Or try the c-note IPA by New Old Lompoc. It's the best I have ever tried. Pliny the Yonger is excellent followed by Racer 5.

I can't see a picture of it or hear the name "Spiral Jetty" without immediately recalling that phrase "art in a dialectic with its surroundings". It's almost Pavlovian.

Anyway, back to IPAs...

This is a great thread. It just goes to show how many regional and local brands are out there.

I'm a big fan of IPAs and love beer snobbery.

Does anyone know of a brown ale that has the hoppiness of an IPA?

Thanks

I usually try whatever is local and they are usually all good. Some better than others but none bad.
