Colored rims

OK or cheesy?

For example:

Good rim but blue.

Aestheically it should be the primary source of color on the bike, with only small amounts of additional accents, such as cable crimps or derailleur band. Otherwise it gets too matchy-matchy.

Sometimes it's okay, depends I guess. Got a pic of the bike you want them for?

Cheesy 99% of the time. Imo off course but I hate matchy anything, tires, stems, rims, tape, saddle. I keep it classy. A bit of color is nice like hubs for example. Again imo

I don't have an opinion on the rims but I hated the 4 pop-up thingies that busted out of my screen at me. That site is aggressively comin' at ya.

Sure it's a way of life for many, but when it gets down to it, for most of us a bike is a toy. Have fun with it, add some color. What sportscars look best? The bold ones! The yellows, the greens, the bright blue cars are the ones we remember. Yet people keep buying cars in silver, gray, charcoal, black, onyx, etc.

Have some fun. Go with color!

(says the guy who always buys white cars and brushed titanium bikes)

Ok as the 'pop' on a muted bike, but never great. I find when people try to be all matchy-matchy, the blues and reds etc never quite jive.

Having said that, if someone gave me a set of cheap/free Heliums or some Excellence rims, I'd ride them and not give a rip.

ALL attempts to color coordinate components to the frame MUST be approved by the forum. Some people are fashion-challenged and should not go out in public without passing muster. Please submit an application form to the moderators, along with engineering drawings and photos of intent before riding in public.

Sometimes...

...colored rims fit in quite well, especially if they are upscale like these Mavic CXP 33's:

Hmmm... with the right bike, this color could work... IMO.
