Sorry, man. I looked but came up short. I know he posted it on BikeForums C&V a few years back. While there was more to it, the gist was a come-along pulling the seatpost while the frame was kept stationary on a large heavy something-or-another via the BB shell.

FWIW, I believe Frank said he used this a few times and that didn't happen. Maybe not the method you'd want to use on a grail bike, but I sure as sh*t will never question FTW on anything to do with building or repairing bikes.

Keep at it, be patient.
I had to do the same to an old mountain bike. Aluminum post in a steel frame. I left enough seat post to secure vice-grip wrench, and kept twisting as I cut, lubed, cut, twist, etc etc. |

You can, if there is enough post sticking out, put a bolt through the post, attach a chain(or other fixture) to the bolt, and a slide hammer to the chain. Not sure if that is what FTW did, but would sure give plenty of oomf to pop it out... affixing the frame to something solid and using a come-along would also work using this method.

I'm kind of inspired.
I just received a 90s steel mtb with a couple cracks that are easily fixed and was considering trashing it. After seeing what you've done here I think I'm gonna fix it. |

At this point, I vote for lye eating out the post. Just know that the bubbles fizzing up are explosive.
Afterward, use a hone to clean it out and grease the seat tube good afterward.

I was thinking of some kind of a massive e z out bit with a customized steering wheel puller that uses the BB and a square taper axel. |

Dave Kirk wants to know if it's a Thompson Seatpost, LOL. I recall him asking the question anytime someone posts about a stuck seatpost.
Did you get it out with the cut method? |

Did you check if the stuck post was at the right height? Sorry couldn't resist, LOL!
Good luck with the extraction! |

I did one a few months back, used a square section file edge to file out two lines inside the tube, after many many many many hours I was able to use a big screwdriver and hammer to chisel a strip out, then used a pipe wrench to start rotating and WD40ing what was left....and success!!! Had to make a piece of beer can shim for the distorted upper part though.

Block the top of the seatpost with something, take out BB and then pour coke down and let it work its magic.
