Is there a difference between the outer chainring on a triple vs. double?

I've got an FSA standard crankset (130bcd) on a new-to-me build. I have no need for a 53t outer, and would like to install a 50t. I see a Shimano 50t 130bcd on ebay, described as being the outer from a 5700 series triple. Let's say the price is attractive. Would you expect this to work, both in terms of mounting to an FSA crankset as well as shifting?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it will be fine. Both in mounting and shifting..just lower front der..I've used 50t from Campagnolo Racing triple(50/40/30) for years...onto a 50/39.
