Chain Lube Rec? Difficulty: Dirt roads

I found this thread which covered a wide range of lube options such as motor oil, cooking oil and chain saw bar oil among others.

Is there anything that you guys are finding works really well for dry dirt roads? or is it as simple as needing to clean and lube the chain more frequently?

I used Black Label PJ1 motorcycle chain lube for several years on my mountain bike. It worked great for me and lasted a while. Once I moved I ended up going back to triflo which has been my standby.

Paraffin works pretty okay. White Lightning is good too.

Used to use white lightning...not sure which flavor. I'm using rock n roll now. pretty happy with it. Not sure how they make money...a bottle seems to last me and my many bikes quite a quite a long time!

I really like nixfrixshun. It'll last forever because you need very little. I probably ride 50- 80 miles of dirt roads per week and lube my chain about every two months, when I say lube I mean I put 10 - 15 drops on the chain.

I'm in dry and dusty LA, and have been using T9 Boeshield. The stuff is pretty awesome. The chain stays shiny and doesn't attract a lot of dirt. Just apply the night before and wipe clean the morning of your ride. I don't plan on switching anytime soon.

I use NixFricxShun on everything; our MTBs on the dirt and sand roads in Mexico, our road bikes in the U.S., even the chain drive on our garage door opener. It also worked very well on the two bikes I set up for a transcontinental fully loaded, unsupported ride across the U.S., no chain issues at all. Long lasting, a little goes a very long way, literally and metaphorically.

Was using T9 Boeshield for the last three years. Always liked that it ran as clean is there is for a lube. For whatever reason, lately, the lube lasts only for one or two rides. Dries out incredibly fast now.

Switched to Dumonde Tech Original formula. Chain stays lubed for a solid week. Downside? It certainly picks up a lot of dirt. Haven't used the Lite formula yet. Perhaps that runs cleaner.
