Looks like the teeth that b tension screw moves to set the deraileure gap from upper pulley to the cassette.

It is an indexed 29T ratchet, used to convert older (up to late 2009) Campagnolo 11-S rear derailleurs which have a 27T max capacity to a 29T max capacity, so that 12-29 cassettes can then be used. One swaps out the existing 27T ratchet and then substitutes the new 29T ratchet.
This video is pretty clear. oldpotatoe can certainly explain it more clearly. . . |

I am not sure of the vintage of my set but I am using a 12-29 and I really doubt this change had been made. Do I need to worry about it?

Also, as you know, oldpotatoe is an amazing Campa-resource, and he frequently states (correctly) that the Campa-published restrictions re: cassettes/rds/fds are often very conservative, so he may even say that this converter is pretty superfluous. . . |

I've been riding 12-29 for less than a year. The bike (which I bought used from here) came with 12-25. All I know is that it is white label SR11 on a bike from 2006. I also don't know if this was the original group on the bike. It may have been added later. Maybe I should try to see if I can read a part number.
I guess I am just trying to protect the longevity of the equipment by even considering this. Last edited by kookmyers; 09-19-2017 at 10:48 PM. Reason: More info |

If the rd is from 2006, (but, as you say it could be a later rd though) then you're right: it probably doesn't have the converter.
I would see what op says; if he thinks it is worth it, $7.50 is not very much for the correct piece. |

if white label super record 11s (well any super record 11s actually since white was the first) rear derailleur your groupset is newer than your bike. The first sr group was realeased in 2008 if memory serves and had white logos. Believe the first red logos appeared 2010.

11s. SR/Record/Chorus introduced 2009, btw.

Thanks.
I dug further last night while dancing with insomnia. I'm always asked why I'm a fan of Campagnolo. Who else would come up with something like this to help users out. And spare parts, too. |
