ot: Nexus 7 tablet 16 or 32 gb?
Moving into the semi modern world of tablets. Under what circumstances might I wish I had bought the 32 vs 16 gb model? Books, movies, or what?

apps... I have a 32gb ipad and its almost full. Some apps (specially games) take a lot of space now a days. If you plan on downloading a lot of apps and also want to put movies and music in there i would go for the 32gb.

I assume you mean gb not mb
The only times I use significant storage is media, particularly video. If you have a typical load of apps, games, music and such, pictures and video (downloaded or recorded on the device itself) will be relatively huge |

I've got a fair bit of music, pictures, files and some videos on my 16gb ipad and I've still got plenty of room. My apps are minimal and I've got no games. I only use apps when it makes sence.
I find irony that a lot of software is moving SaaS but many phone/tablet owners still want an app on their device. Give me a good website over an app any day. Why bother using my storage space when most times the information is still web based? Free apps that require a web connection (think news or sports) baffle me. That's what my web browser is for, looking up web based content. I don't need 12 "browsers" with specific functions. I need one, and 12 good websites bookmarked. Anyway... I have other places I store content: I've got a free 25gb skydrive account for personal things that I don't use often and don't need without a network connection I've got a home network I can access wirelessly (at home) for mass storage of things I rarely need. Most work information gets saved on a server behind the company firewall. Edit: apps like YouTube, ebay, and Facebook are common examples of useless apps. It's web based content that can be accessed via the built in browser. Last edited by thirdgenbird; 07-30-2013 at 11:37 PM. |

If you swing it then get the 32. Alternatively you could track down a jelly bean device with a microsd slot.

I've always thought that the Nexus 6 models were better looking.

I agree, "Blade Runner" is easily in my Top 5, maybe at the very top. |

I've got the 16GB Nexus 7. I don't miss the extra space, given I have a Google Drive where I can access files as needed.
Most of my media consumption on it is books anyways, and photos are minimal (no rear facing camera, and no self respecting person takes photos with a tablet anyways), and if I'm watching video it all comes from Netflix streaming. You may want to sit tight, Google just announced a new version of the Nexus tablets coming later this year. |

How you will use it determines the space needed. You may not know this yet, and if that's the case go larger.
I started out that way but have eventually realized I can get by with the minimal amount of storage on the devices I use. Currently a galaxy s4 that has 16gb storage but a microsd card adds 64gb (already had otherwise would add a cheaper 32gb or even less) Also I have an ipad mini that has 16gb. I mostly use it for browsing the web, mail, and as a GPS device when travelling. For this, I could get by with much less than 16gb. Books take hardly any space. If you don't play games apps will not take any space. Movies and TV series eat it up quickly especially if you prefer HD quality. Lossless music can also eat into space quickly. I have a LOT of digital music and no device currently available can hold it all. So I must pick and choose. It's easy to manage a syncing playlist with drag and drop capabilities with either an android or apple device. I use Jriver and Itunes. |

Then I would jump on it. I personally just put my Google ChromeCast on order.

I've got the 16GB version. I don't play games and have almost 12GB free space.

Not perfect, but better than nothing to increase storage if that's what you need on a 7:
